Moving to Tengah: what new residents should know
Moving to Tengah, Singapore's Forest Town: the five districts, the car-free town centre, Jurong Region Line plans and moving-day tips.
Updated 2 min read

If you're moving to Tengah, you're joining HDB's newest town. Tengah and was planned from the start as a "Forest Town": homes built around green corridors, a car-free town centre, and paths for walking and cycling. If you've got the keys to a flat here, this guide covers what to expect and how to make moving day smoother.
The town at a glance
- Location: western Singapore, bounded by the Kranji Expressway (KJE), the Pan-Island Expressway (PIE), Brickland Road and Bukit Batok Road.
- Five housing districts: Plantation, Park, Garden, Brickland and Forest Hill, developed in stages. Plantation was the first.
- Car-free town centre: HDB's plan puts traffic beneath the town centre so the surface is for people, with dedicated walking and cycling paths along the roads.
- Green spaces: a forest corridor runs through the town, with a central park as its centrepiece.
Getting around
The Jurong Region Line (JRL) will have stations in Tengah, including an interchange for its western and eastern branches. In March 2026 the first stage was rescheduled to open around mid-2028, with interim shuttle bus services planned before then, and a further station in Tengah announced for the mid-2030s. Timelines can change, so check LTA's latest announcements.
Until the JRL opens, residents rely on buses to nearby MRT stations such as Bukit Batok and Choa Chu Kang.
Moving into a new Tengah flat
Tengah is still growing, which affects moving day:
- Book early. New blocks hand over many flats at once, so movers and lifts are in demand in the same weeks.
- Space out deliveries. Avoid furniture deliveries on the same day as your mover, so you're not waiting for the lift.
- Protect your new flat. Ask your mover what floor and wall protection they bring.
- Check access. Some roads and paths may still be under construction. Share your block number and nearest drop-off point with your mover.
- Inspect before you renovate. See BTO key collection to move-in for the full sequence.
Your Tengah moving checklist

- Get mover quotes and book a date. See what movers cost.
- Move in, then update your address with ICA within 28 days.
