Aircond servicing cost in Malaysia (2026): general, chemical and overhaul
Aircond servicing cost in Malaysia for 2026: typical prices for general servicing, chemical wash and overhaul per unit, and how often to service.
Updated 2 min read

Your aircond servicing cost in Malaysia depends on the type of service, the type of unit and how many units you book together. Here are the prices published for 2026, what each service covers, and how often to book one.
Typical prices per unit
For wall-mounted (split) units, provider price lists in 2026 broadly agree:
| Service | Typical price per unit |
|---|---|
| General servicing | about RM60 to RM120 |
| Chemical wash | about RM115 to RM250 |
| Overhaul (full dismantling) | about RM250 to RM400 (SAYS) |
Booking several units together usually brings the price per unit down. Cassette (ceiling) units cost more: one provider lists general cleaning at RM200 to RM250 and chemical cleaning at RM320 to RM370 per unit. Gas top-ups are charged separately.
What each service covers
- General servicing: filters, cover and the parts a technician can reach, plus a check that the unit cools and drains properly.
- Chemical wash: the coil and fan are cleaned with a chemical solution. It helps with smells, water leaks and weak cooling.
- Overhaul: the unit is taken apart and cleaned piece by piece, for units that are very dirty or haven't been serviced in a long time.
Units that haven't been serviced for over a year often cost more to clean.
How often to service
For units used almost every day, Recommend.my suggests regular cleaning every 4 to 6 months and a chemical clean every 8 to 12 months. SAYS suggests a chemical wash once a year for heavy users, and sooner if you notice weak airflow, musty smells or water dripping. Check your unit's manual too.
Choosing an efficient new unit
Every aircond sold in Malaysia carries the Energy Commission's energy efficiency label, rated from 2 to 5 stars. More stars means lower electricity bills. The Commission tightened the star scale for units certified from 1 January 2026, so compare labels from the same year.

Frequently asked questions
How much is aircond servicing in Malaysia?
For a wall-mounted unit, provider price lists in 2026 put general servicing at about RM60 to RM120 per unit, cheaper per unit when you service several at once. A chemical wash is about RM115 to RM250 per unit.
What's the difference between general servicing and a chemical wash?
General servicing cleans the filters and the parts you can reach. A chemical wash also cleans the coil and fan with a chemical solution, which helps when a unit smells, leaks water or cools poorly. An overhaul fully dismantles the unit and costs more.
How often should I service my aircond?
For units used almost every day, Recommend.my suggests regular cleaning every 4 to 6 months and a chemical clean every 8 to 12 months. SAYS suggests a chemical wash once a year for heavy users, or sooner if cooling drops. Follow your unit's manual too.
How do I choose an efficient new aircond?
Look at the Energy Commission's energy efficiency label: units are rated from 2 to 5 stars, and more stars means lower running costs. Units certified from 1 January 2026 use a stricter star scale.
