Furniture disposal in Singapore: town council bulky item removal, selling and donating, recycling, and when to pay a disposal service. Plus what not to do.
Updated 1 min read

Furniture disposal in Singapore can be free if you plan ahead, or quick if you pay. Here are the options in order, from free to paid, plus what to avoid.
1. Town council bulky item removal (HDB)
Many HDB town councils run free or low-cost bulky item removal for residents. Typical terms from published town council pages:
- A few items per household each month for free; extra items may be charged
- Book in advance, sometimes a few working days ahead
- Collection at set times; put items out only on the day
- Exclusions: renovation debris, built-in fixtures and very large items such as pianos
Check your own town council's terms; they differ.
2. Sell, give away or donate
Furniture in good condition can go to a new home through marketplaces, community groups, neighbours or charities. Start a few weeks before you need the space.
3. Recycle
- Electronics: NEA's e-waste collection points and retailer take-back.
- Paper, plastic, metal and glass: blue recycling bins.
- Mattresses and appliances: ask the retailer about take-back when you buy new.
4. Pay a disposal service
When you have more items than the town council takes, need a fixed date, or have items they exclude, a disposal service is the quickest option. See our disposal cost guide for typical prices.
What not to do
Don't leave furniture at the void deck, corridor or bin centre without an arrangement: it can be treated as illegal dumping. Book a collection instead.
