Privacy policy
This policy explains how ServeGig ("we" or "us") handles personal data under Singapore's Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA). It covers our website, apps and emails.
What we collect
If you ask for quotes (customers):
- your name, mobile number and, if you give it, email address;
- your postal code (we look up the planning area) and the job details you enter;
- the consent you give and when you gave it; and
- your answers if we ask how the job went.
If you're a service provider:
- business name, UEN, licence number where needed, and the services and areas you cover;
- the contact person's name, mobile number and email, and a password (stored only in scrambled, hashed form);
- the leads you accept, notes and statuses you add to them, and credit purchases. Card and PayNow payments are handled by Stripe; we don't see or store full card numbers.
If you contact us: your name, email address and message.
When you use the service: basic technical data such as your IP address, browser and pages requested, in our hosting provider's logs. For rate limits we keep only a scrambled (keyed hash) form of your IP address and phone number, not the originals.
How we use it
- To send your request to suitable providers and show them the job details.
- To verify your mobile number with a one-time code, and to stop spam, fraud and abuse. An automated screening service reads the job details to check for spam; it never receives your name, phone number or email.
- To email you about your request (if you gave an email) and to run provider accounts, billing and receipts.
- To answer your messages and improve the service.
- To meet legal obligations, such as keeping tax records.
We don't sell your personal data. We don't send marketing messages without your consent, and we check the Do Not Call Registry where its rules apply.
Who we share it with
- Providers who accept your request (up to 3) receive your name, mobile number, email if you gave one, and the job details, to quote for that job. Before accepting, providers see only a summary without your contact details. Our terms require them to use your data only for that job.
- Service providers who help us run ServeGig, under contracts that protect your data:
- hosting: Vercel (our servers run in Singapore; pages are delivered through its global network);
- database: Supabase (Singapore);
- email and SMS: Amazon Web Services (Singapore region);
- payments for providers: Stripe;
- security checks on our forms: Cloudflare Turnstile;
- postal code lookup: OneMap, run by the Singapore Land Authority (receives the postal code only);
- spam screening of job details: Anthropic (receives job details only, never contact details).
- Authorities when the law requires it, or to protect people from harm or fraud.
Data outside Singapore
Some service providers, such as Anthropic, Stripe and Cloudflare, may process data outside Singapore. When that happens, we make sure the data gets a standard of protection comparable to the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA), for example through contracts.
How long we keep it
We keep personal data only as long as we need it for the purposes above, or as long as the law requires (for example, payment records for tax). After that, we delete it or remove anything that identifies you.
Your rights
You can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your personal data and tell you how it's been used or shared in the past year;
- correct data that's wrong or incomplete; or
- stop using your data by withdrawing your consent. We'll explain what that means for you first, for example that we can't pass on a request. Providers who already received your details for a job keep the copy they were given, but our terms require them to use it only for that job.
Email our Data Protection Officer at support@servegig.com or use our contact form and choose "My personal data". We may need to confirm who you are. We'll reply as soon as we can, usually within 30 days.
Keeping it safe
We use encrypted connections, limit access to the people who need it, store passwords only in hashed form and protect our forms against bots. No system is perfectly secure; if a data breach is likely to harm you, we'll tell you and the Personal Data Protection Commission (PDPC) as the law requires.
Cookies
We use only the cookies needed to run the service. See our cookie policy.
Children
ServeGig is for adults arranging home services. We don't knowingly collect data from children under 18.
Changes
We'll update this policy when our practices change, and change the date at the top. If a change affects how we use data you've already given us, we'll tell you.
