Terms of use

Last updated

These terms apply when you use ServeGig, our website and apps (the service). In these terms, "we" or "us" means ServeGig. By using the service, you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use it.

1. What ServeGig does

ServeGig connects people who need a home service (customers) with independent businesses that provide it (providers). We pass a customer's request to up to 3 providers who cover the job; providers then contact the customer with quotes.

  • We don't do the work. Providers are independent businesses, not our employees or agents.
  • We aren't part of your agreement. Any quote, booking, payment or contract for the job is between the customer and the provider.
  • Providers pay us, not customers. Customers use the service for free.

2. Using the service

  • You must be 18 or older and able to enter into a contract.
  • Give accurate information, including your own phone number and email.
  • Don't misuse the service: no fake or test requests, spam, scraping, attempts to get round our security checks, or anything unlawful.
  • Keep your sign-in details private. You're responsible for what happens in your account.

3. For customers

  • Requesting quotes is free and doesn't oblige you to hire anyone.
  • When you submit a request, you agree to us sharing your details (name, mobile number, email if you gave one, and the job details) with up to 3 providers who accept it, so they can quote for that job. Our privacy policy explains how we handle your data.
  • We verify your mobile number with a one-time code and check requests for spam before sending them.
  • We check providers before approving them, including their business registration and, for licensed work such as plumbing, electrical and pest control, their licence number. We can't guarantee their work, prices, availability or conduct, so check quotes, licences and insurance before you hire.
  • If a provider misuses your details or behaves badly, please tell us. We can suspend or remove providers.

4. For providers

Your account

  • Give accurate business details, including your UEN and, where the service needs one, a valid licence. Tell us if anything changes.
  • We review every signup and may refuse, pause or close an account, for example after complaints, misuse of customer data or a high rate of refund claims.

Leads and prices

  • You'll see a summary of each lead (service, area, job details and price) before you decide. Contact details are shown only after you accept.
  • The price of a lead is shown before you accept. It depends on the service and job size, and may change for future leads.
  • Each lead goes to up to 3 providers. Accepting a lead doesn't guarantee you'll win the job.

Credit and payment

  • You pay for leads from prepaid credit. You buy credit packs through Stripe (PayNow or card), and the price of each lead you accept is taken from your balance.
  • Credit can only be used for leads on ServeGig. It doesn't expire and is non-refundable, except where the law requires otherwise.
  • New providers may get free trial leads for leads up to a set price, as shown in your account.
  • Prices are in Singapore dollars. If we register for GST, we'll add it where it applies and show it on your receipts.

Lead refunds

You can ask for a refund on a lead within 72 hours of accepting it if:

  • the number is invalid or wrong;
  • you couldn't reach the customer after 3 attempts over 24 hours;
  • the job is outside the services or areas you cover; or
  • it duplicates a lead you already bought.

Not getting the job, the customer choosing someone else or not replying after your first contact, or the price being too high aren't reasons for a refund. We decide each claim on the evidence available, and approved refunds come back as credit, not cash.

Using customer data

When you accept a lead, you receive personal data. You agree to:

  • use it only to quote for and carry out that job;
  • comply with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 (PDPA), including its Do Not Call rules, and not send marketing without the customer's consent;
  • keep it secure, not share it, and delete it when you no longer need it for the job; and
  • tell us straight away if it's lost or misused.

5. Content and intellectual property

The service, our content and our brand belong to us or our licensors. You may use the service for its intended purpose only. Anything you send us (such as job details or messages) stays yours, but you let us use it to run the service.

6. Our responsibility to you

  • We work to keep the service running and accurate, but it's provided "as is". We don't promise it will always be available or error-free.
  • We're not responsible for providers' work, quotes or conduct, or for what customers do, as we aren't a party to their agreement.
  • To the extent the law allows, we're not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or lost profits, and our total liability to you is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
  • Nothing in these terms limits liability that can't be limited by law, such as for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

7. Ending your use

You can stop using the service at any time; providers can ask us to close their account. We may suspend or end access if you break these terms or misuse the service. Unused credit isn't refunded when an account is closed for breaking these terms.

8. Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and tell providers by email or in their account before important changes take effect. Using the service after a change means you accept the new terms.

9. Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of Singapore, and the courts of Singapore decide any dispute. Please contact us first, as most problems can be sorted out quickly.
